The Media House Celebrates 10th Graduation
Next week
The Media House will see the graduation of 10 students via the 10th BTEC National Certificate Media course at HMP Downview. To date 97 students have passed the course gaining qualifications in media, radio and digital production.
Via an intensive 20 weeks of study, students are taught pre-production techniques such as research, scripting, production management, shooting and directing, editing skills, presentation and interview techniques, making a variety of film projects including TV idents for HMP Downview’s community TV channel. Following graduation the students have the opportunity to join the Broadcast Unit at TIME TV, consolidating and enhancing their skills, providing excellent access to work opportunities for those in the resettlement phase of their sentence as well as upon release. Women have secured placements and jobs upon release at organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau, Ginger TV, Media for Development, freeasabird.org social networking site, Inside Job Productions, Sainsbury’s, and the Koestler Trust.
The Media House is working closely with
PACT to find bespoke placements for graduates from the course and TIME TV.
