freeasabird goes live

This December IJP launches freeasabird, an exciting online project designed to support women offenders during the difficult time following their release from prison. The website has been delivered in collaboration with London Probation’s IMPACT Programme, focused on lowering the high rates of short term prison sentences. freeasabird will contain a one-stop-shop of resettlement information, video content to inspire and inform women about what can be achieved on release, and discussion forums to encourage peer-to-peer support. Open only to members, these forums will provide a space for peer-to-peer support on all kinds of issues that affect women at this time, including family, housing, health, training and employment. Designed with its users at the heart of the project, freeasabird will recruit members through an outreach programme in prisons.
